About Greek

There are around 10.7 million Greek speakers in the world. Greece has by far the most Greek speakers of any country in the world. While Greek speakers are highly concentrated in one region of the world, the language’s historic role and vibrant modern culture makes it a useful language to learn.

Why learn Greek?

·  Greek is at the base of much of the vocabulary of other European languages. About 25% of all English vocabulary comes from Greek.

·  Greek food is delicious and waiters will appreciate you ordering food in Greek!

·  Learning a language is mostly about understanding a culture. If you decide to learn Greek you’ll be amazed by the beauty of Greek music, poetry, and literature.

What you will learn in your Greek course at The Language School

Depending which level of course you study with us, you will learn a wide range of Greek vocabulary, grammar and expressions. We always ensure that the language taught in our lessons is useful and relevant with the main goal being to help you learn how to communicate confidently and effectively in Greek. You will study Greek in a variety of contexts and for a wide range of situations such as learning how to order food in a restaurant, make reservations and ask questions in Greek. We like to offer flexibility in our classes, so if there is something specific you would like to learn about in Greek you are more than welcome to make a request and our tutors will be more than happy to accommodate you.

What to do after completion

We offer language lessons for all stages of language learning; Beginners, Improvers and Advanced. So once you feel you need to move up to a higher level class, there is always a class suitable for your ability level. Once you reach the very top Advanced level you can continue attending Advanced classes to maintain your fluency, or try one of our Conversation classes to keep your language up to date.
