About Russian

Russia is a top travel and sports destination, and Russian is the most spoken language in Europe. It’s also a popular second language for much of Eastern Europe because of Russia’s lasting political influence.

Why learn Russian?

· Russia has a full 29 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. From the Kremlin and Lake Baikal to the Golden Mountains of Altai — there is immense cultural and ecological wealth to be found in Russia.

· Only about 5 percent of Russians have a command of English, and in the majority of Russian cities, you’ll find almost no signs written in the Latin alphabet. So you can’t get around without at least a basic knowledge of Russian. It’s definitely worth tackling the Cyrillic alphabet and learning some phrases in order to connect with the locals on your trip!

· Learning Russian is a great challenge  and you’ll feel a real sense of accomplishment!

What you will learn in your Russian course at The Language School

Depending which level of course you study with us, you will learn a wide range of Russian vocabulary, grammar and expressions. We always ensure that the language taught in our lessons is useful and relevant with the main goal being to help you learn how to communicate confidently and effectively in Russian. You will study Russian in a variety of contexts and for a wide range of situations such as learning how to order food in a restaurant, make reservations and ask questions in Russian. We like to offer flexibility in our classes, so if there is something specific you would like to learn about in Russian you are more than welcome to make a request and our tutors will be more than happy to accommodate you.

What to do after completion

We offer language lessons for all stages of language learning; Beginners, Improvers and Advanced. So once you feel you need to move up to a higher level class, there is always a class suitable for your ability level. Once you reach the very top Advanced level you can continue attending Advanced classes to maintain your fluency, or try one of our Conversation classes to keep your language up to date.
